Koratty (Thrissur) IT park to be launched by November
Another great news for IT professionals from Kerala who work and live far away from their home land due to lack of opportunities in their state.
The first 'spoke' IT park of Kochi cyber park,the Koratty IT Park will go on stream in November with the first phase to be ready for occupation soon.Koratty, once known for its major industrial units will be in the IT industry map of the country soon.
The state government has allotted 42 acres of land for the Koratty IT park. The park is 45 km from Kochi and around 14 km from the Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery.When completed, the park is expected to offer a direct employment potential of around 6000 IT professionals. The state PWD has already initiated a proposal to develop a six-lane road connecting Kochi and Thrissur.In the first phase, approximately 70,000 sft area with plug-and-play facilities will be provided.
The IT department has conceived a 'Hub and spok' model for the development of IT in the state. The hubs are Technopark Thiruvananthapuram, Infopark Kochi and Cyberpark Kozhikode.The sopkes will be developed at Kollam, Ambalapuzha, Cherthala, Thrissur (Koratty), Kannur and Kasaragod.

S FM 93.5 is now Red FM 93.5
The leading FM Radio channel S FM is now Red FM 93.5 .S FM, is a sister concern of Sun TV network and is one of the most popular FM Radio service in south India. The renaming follows the merger of S FM with Red FM.
S FM has bagged the award for the best radio channel instituted by Frame media.
In Kerala it has stations in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur in Kerala.The broadcasting frequency will continue to be 93.5.

Pvt lab to conduct swine flu test for Rs.4,000
New Delhi: Private diagnostic network Super Religare Laboratories (SRL) said here Friday that it is ready to conduct swine flu tests at Rs.4,000, while the government claims it spends nearly Rs.10,000 for testing a swine flu patient's sample.
"We are fully prepared for the screening of H1N1 in all our laboratories in the country and are only waiting for the green signal from the government. We have lowered our prices as we see this as an opportunity to serve the nation," said Sanjeev K. Chaudhry, chief executive of Super Religare Laboratories.
"We have adequate amount of testing kits available with us with a team of renowned doctors at both Mumbai and Gurgaon," he said.
Chaudhry added that some of the doctors with SRL have gone through an orientation programme at the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in New Delhi.
Ashok Rattan, advisor to SRL diagnostic network, told IANS: "We are ready with all facilities to help people. We are in touch with the health ministry. Once the government gives us a go ahead, we will accept swine flu samples. We have fixed the cost at Rs.4000 per test."
"We will take all precautions. We have also requested the government to give us some Tamiflu tablets so that we can use them if our technicians need it at any moment due to exposure to the virus," Rattan added.
At present, SRL has about 1,000 swine flu testing kits available with it at the Mumbai and Gurgaon centres.
At the orientation programme, private labs were informed about the guidelines to be followed while conducting the tests, how to handle the transportation of samples, how to wear the mask, the goggles, the cap and other logistics relating to testing samples for swine flu

Nehru Trophy Boat Race 2009 : Photos,Videos,Winners
Alappuzha (Kerala),Aug. 8 :In a scintillating finale, snake boat Champakkulam Chundan lifted the coveted Nehru trophy in the annual boat race held on the Punnamada lake here.
In the finals, Champakkulam powered by rowers of the Jesus Boat Club, Kollam, led by Jiji Jacob, beat Payippad Chundan of UBC, Kainkari. Sree Ganesh Chundan of Kumarakom came third.The United Progressive Alliance Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Saturday inaugurated the 57th edition of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race at the Punnamada lake in Kerala’s Alappuzha District.Along with Gandhi, Union Ministers including Vayalar Ravi, Kumari Selja, Sasi Tharoor and State ministers attended the extravagant event.

Bharath Murali Passed Away
Malayalam film actor Bharath Murali (55 years) passed away at a private hospital in Trivandrum. Murali who was highly diabetic, was admitted after a kidney failure followed by a massive heart attack. Last week he had just come back from Cape Town in South Africa, where he was shooting for Tamil superstar Suriya’s Aadhavan, directed by K.S Ravikumar and produced by Udayanidhi Stalin.
He was famous for his powerful portrayal of roles in lead as well as character roles. He started his career in Malayalam dramas. Murali contested the 1999 Lok Sabha elections as a CPI (M) candidate, from Alappuzha. He was the chairman of Kerala Sangeetha Nadaka Academy.
He acted in a variety of roles ranging from lead roles to villain roles, and won accolades. Some of his other notable films include Nee Ethra Dhanya, Dhanam, The King,” Pathram”, Veeralippattu, Achan Kombathu Amma Varambathu, Meenamasathile Sooryan, Swarnam, and The Truth. He has won best actor award both at the state level and the national level.
It is a great loss to Malayalam film industry recently with sudden death of Lohitha Das, Rajan P Dev and now Murali.
