Veteran actress Adoor Bhavani passes away



Adoor Bhavani, veteran actor, passed away at Pannivizha near Adoor on Sunday afternoon. She was 85.

Adoor Bhavani Excelled her performance in movies Like Kallichellamma, Aranazhikaneram and Chemmeen. Adoor Bhavani Enter into the Film Industry through the film "Shariyo Thetoo " . Adoor Bhavani Bagged State award for the Film Kallichellamma ( Best Supporting Actress - 1969) . She was awarded the Chalachithra Saparya Lifetime Achievement award by Mathrubhumi-Medimix in 2002.In 2008, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy honoured Bhavani and Pankajam for their overall contributions to theatre and drama.

Her husband, Janardhanan Nair passed away in 1997 and she is survived by son, Rajeevkumar.

Her only son Rajeev was present at the bedside when she breathed her last. Her only income was the financial aid given by AMMA, a film organisation.

Anto Antony, MP, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Adoor Prakash, Joseph M.Puthusserry, MLAs, Pandalam Sudhakaran, former minister, actor Suresh Gopi, and film director B.Unnikrishnan were among those who paid homage to the departed soul on Sunday.


Veteran actor Adoor Pankajom pays last respects to her elder sister Adoor Bhavani who Passed away on Sunday, at Pannivizha near Adoor.

Archbishop passes away




Dr. Daniel Acharuparampil, 70, Archbishop of Varappuzha and President of Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC) passed away here at the Lourdes Mission Hospital on Monday at 11.10 a. m.

He was admitted to the hospital three days ago with high fever, having suffered multiple organ failure. A spokesman for the Latin Archdiocese said that body of the Archbishop would be embalmed and brought to the St. Francis Assisi Cathedral at 9.30 a. m. on Tuesday where it will be placed for the public to pay their homage.

The body will be taken to the St. Albert's School grounds on Wednesday morning. The funerl ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 3.30 p. m., the spokesman added.

The Late Dr. Acharuparampil belonged to the Catholic religious order of Carmerlies Discalced and took over the reins of the Varappuzha Archdiocese in November 1996.

Born into a traditional Catholic family in 1939 at Pallippuram, near here, he entered the seminary in 1956. He was ordained a priest in March 1966 and went on to complete his studies in Philosophy and to compete a Master's Degree from Benares Hindu University.

He was known as a scholar who delved deep into Hindu spirituality and wrote several books on the subject, including "Hindu Mysticism and Spirituality" and The Destiny of Man in the Evolutionary Thought of Sree Aurobindo."
